Heard a guy at the supply shop bragging about skipping clipper maintenance, yikes

I was picking up blades on Tuesday and this barber next to me was telling his buddy he hasn't oiled his clippers in 6 weeks because they 'still cut fine.' My last clipper died after I ignored the manual for 2 months, the motor seized up right in the middle of a fade. That repair bill was $140 plus two days of lost bookings because I had to borrow a backup that pulled hair. Dull blades also yank on skin, and one client nearly walked out on me after a rough session last spring. If you're on that same track, check your tension screw and oil at least every other day, it takes 30 seconds. Anyone else seen a clipper just give out at the worst possible time, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way?
