Fade blending tip that made customers stop complaining, took me 8 years to get it

I used to think natural light was the only way to catch a bad fade. Every shop I worked in since 2015, I kept dragging clients near the front window, squinting at the neckline. Then a mentor in Austin told me to try a $15 ring light clamped to my station mirror. I laughed it off, but after a week I saw my blends in a totally different way. The issue was my overhead fluorescents were casting shadows that hid the transition lines. Now I do a final pass under that light and check from three angles, not just straight on. Has anyone else fixed their fade game with a cheap light setup or am I late to this party?
