Bought a cheap clipper set online, lost $80 and a client

Grabbed some 'professional' cordless clippers from a random site for $80. They died halfway through a skin fade on a regular. Had to apologize and finish with my old pair. What's the worst gear fail you've had?

That "professional" label is just slapped on anything now. I see it with phone chargers, tools, even kitchen knives. They know people want to trust the word, so they use it to sell junk. It's gotten to where the word itself means almost nothing. You have to dig through reviews and hope they're real.

You're right, @lucashart. I used to look for that word as a sign of quality, but now it just makes me more suspicious of the product.

Remember when "professional" meant it was built for a job site and not a kitchen drawer? Now it's just a sticker they put on the box to charge you ten bucks more. I've bought so called pro tools that broke the first time I used them. At this point, I trust a beat up old brand name I find at a garage sale more than a shiny new "professional" thing in a store. The word is totally ruined.
