Blew $340 on a bulk box of cheap barber capes and every one of them split at the neck seam
I run a two chair shop over in Council Bluffs and figured I could save some cash by buying capes in bulk from a no name supplier I found online. Paid $340 for 20 of them, which sounds like a deal right up until the third one ripped apart mid haircut on a guy getting a skin fade. The neck closure just gave out, snap popped right off, hair went everywhere and I had to comp his cut plus hand him a $20 gift card to keep him from walking for good. Out of the whole box, 9 capes split within two months and the waterproof coating started flaking off another 6, so I was basically sweeping up plastic bits along with the hair. My old capes from the supply house cost double but I still have 4 of them going on 3 years with zero problems. If you are thinking about going cheap on soft goods, just don't, the money you save gets eaten alive by angry clients and reorders. What is the one supply item you refuse to bargain hunt on anymore?
