Unpopular opinion: boxed cake mix with a few add-ins beats scratch baking every time for crowds
Last month I brought a doctored box mix to a family reunion and everyone raved, while my friend's from-scratch chocolate cake sat half-eaten. So is the extra cost and time worth it when people can't tell the difference anyway? Who else has had this debate play out at a gathering?

...and here's the thing, nobody knew it was boxed until I told them. I even had my aunt ask for the recipe. I felt a little guilty but honestly, it's just easier when you're feeding a big group. Time and stress matter too, not just ingredients.
