The $8 specialty pan I swore was a gimmick actually fixed my cake sinking problem

I have been baking layer cakes for about 4 years now and always struggled with the middle sinking down into a dome shape. My grandma told me to just use a cake strip or lower the temp but nothing worked perfectly. Last month I saw a fabric pan called a 'cake goer' at a kitchen store in Austin for 8 bucks and rolled my eyes hard. Basically it is a woven fabric pan that you bake inside your regular metal pan to insulate it. I tried it on a lemon blueberry cake last Saturday and the top came out completely flat for the first time ever. The texture was even all the way through and no dry edges. Has anyone else used one of these fabric pans or is this just a fluke that worked one time only?

My grandma's old fabric cake strips prove cheap fixes beat expensive gear EVERY time.

Did she use old t-shirt strips or actual cotton fabric for those?
