Saw the difference in my sourdough after 3 months of neglect
I used to bake every Sunday and got a nice open crumb with my starter from Portland. Then work got crazy, I fed it maybe once a week for 3 months straight. The bread came out flat and dense as a brick this morning. Anyone else have a starter go downhill that fast after you ignore it?

Did you name your starter? I named mine Betty and she throws a fit if I skip a feeding.

12 feedings in and I named mine Gurgles McGee. He gets super bubbly and active when I feed him, like he's actually excited about it. I definitely think naming them makes you feel bad if you miss a day, like you're neglecting a pet or something.
