My sourdough starter finally doubled in size after 3 weeks of feeding

I read that King Arthur Flour blog post where the lady said to just keep at it and don't get discouraged. Honestly after day 10 with zero activity I almost dumped it down the sink. But I stuck with it and now I'm actually baking my first loaf this weekend. Has anyone else had a starter that took this long to get going?

My friend had a starter that took almost 5 weeks. She was about to give up and then boom it finally took off. I read in a baking group that sometimes the flour you use matters a lot. Like if it's bleached or super processed it can slow things way down.

@mia748 I dunno people overthink this stuff, just feed it and wait.

Found that switching to unbleached bread flour made a HUGE difference for my starter. Just regular tap water and keeping it in a warm spot did the trick after that.
