My friend's mom said she always bakes by weight, not cups, and it changed my last three batches
I was making cookies and she saw me using measuring cups, then told me she switched to a kitchen scale after a cake disaster. I tried it and my stuff is way more consistent now, but my other friend says it's too much fuss for simple recipes. Is weighing ingredients really that much better for home baking, or is it overkill unless you're doing fancy stuff?

Switched to a scale after too many dense muffins. It just works.

Been there. My banana bread was either soup or a brick until I got a scale. Measuring cups are a lie for flour, you pack it in without even knowing. A scale showed me I was using almost a cup extra flour. Now everything bakes the same way every time. It's boring, but boring works.

Hate to be that guy but "boring" is the wrong word for consistency. Reliable baking is actually freeing because you don't have to guess if your bread will rise or turn into a hockey puck. A scale is just a tool that takes the anxiety out of the process, not a boring crutch.
