My chocolate chip cookies came out like hockey pucks last Tuesday
I think I over-mixed the dough after adding the flour, which my aunt warned me about. Anyone have a good method for knowing when to stop mixing?

Okay but "hockey pucks" is a bit dramatic, right? I've had cookies come out flat or a little tough, but they were still totally edible. I feel like we get told these baking rules are super strict, but sometimes you just mix a little longer and they're fine. Maybe your oven temp was off or the butter was too warm.

Honestly, I just knead in a bit more flour by hand to save it.
