My butter brick disaster on Thanksgiving morning
I was making my grandma's pie crust recipe last Thursday for our family dinner, and I thought I'd try the whole "freeze the butter and grate it" trick I saw on TikTok. Big mistake. The butter was so cold it wouldn't grate right, just turned into a pile of greasy shreds that melted instantly when I touched them. I ended up with a dough that looked like a floury, oily mess instead of nice pea-sized chunks. After two failed batches that were sticky and unrollable, I finally just stuck the whole bowl in the fridge for 30 minutes and it sort of came together. The crust still came out tough and not flaky at all, and my aunt said it tasted like a saltine cracker. Has anyone else had a specific trick completely blow up in their face like that?

Your AUNT actually said it tasted like a saltine cracker? That is absolutely BRUTAL, I would have crawled under the table and died.

Savage. Aunt pulled no punches on that one. Saltine cracker is cold blooded.
