Can we talk about people who freeze cookie dough wrong

I see so many posts where folks just scoop raw dough onto a tray and toss it in the freezer. That gives you rock hard lumps that bake unevenly. You need to portion the dough first, then freeze it on a sheet pan for an hour before bagging it. I had a batch of chocolate chip cookies last week where the edges burned but the middle was raw because I skipped that step. Has anyone else dealt with frozen dough that just refuses to bake right?

Right, because nothing says "perfectly baked cookies" like a geology project from the freezer. I've definitely had those hockey pucks that somehow manage to be burnt and raw at the same time.

Buddy of mine tried that with a bag of pre-portioned dough from the grocery store. He forgot to take the plastic divider out between the cookies. We ended up peeling melted plastic off a sheet of half-raw dough that looked like a weird abstract art piece. His kitchen smelled like a chemical fire for two days.
