Appreciation post: My grandma's old recipe book saved a birthday cake disaster
Last Tuesday, I was making a chocolate cake for my friend's party in Portland and completely messed up the buttercream, it was way too runny. I panicked and grabbed my grandma's handwritten book from 1978, found her fix of adding a half cup more powdered sugar and chilling the bowl. It worked perfectly and the cake was a hit. Has anyone else had a family recipe save the day like that?
