Vent: Everyone told me to never use a microwave to proof dough, but it saved a wedding cake order.

I had a big three-tier vanilla cake due for a Saturday wedding in Austin, and my usual proofing box broke on Friday. In a panic, I put a bowl of water in the back of my microwave, zapped it for 2 minutes to get it warm and steamy, then put the bowl of cake batter in there (with the microwave OFF). It rose perfectly in about 45 minutes. Has anyone else used a similar kitchen hack when their normal setup failed?

Guess the microwave's not just for reheating coffee and existential dread after all.

Wait, you reheat coffee in the microwave? That's the real crime here.

Always thought it was useless, but you got me there @riley_taylor.

Reheating coffee is fine if you're in a rush. It's not a crime to want a warm cup without making a fresh pot. Some people just like to complain about nothing.
