Shoutout to the bakery on 5th that weighs flour by the gram, watching a TikTok baker eyeball it drove me to finally buy a scale
I was in line last Tuesday at a small bakery in Portland and watched the owner weigh out 437 grams of flour for a single loaf, not a scoop or a guess in sight. That night I pulled up a baking video where someone dumped flour straight from the bag into a mixing bowl and called it "about two cups," and I finally got why my sandwich bread keeps coming out dense. I bought a $12 kitchen scale on Amazon three days later and my last four loaves have been the most consistent bread I've ever pulled out of my oven. Turns out the big problem was me adding an extra quarter cup every time without knowing it. Does anyone here weigh liquids too, or do you still use measuring cups for the wet stuff?
