PSA: My $120 digital scale broke after six months and I'm back to measuring cups.
I bought a fancy scale for exact weights, but it stopped working right when I needed it for a big cookie order. Some bakers say scales are a must, others think they're just extra stuff to break. What do you guys use for measuring, and has a tool ever let you down like this?

My scale died too. @masonm70 gets it.

Ugh, that's the worst! It feels like everything is built to break right after the warranty ends now. My old food processor motor burned out mid-puree, and my stand mixer's speed control is getting weird. It's not just baking tools, it's like every gadget is a temporary guest in your kitchen. I still use a scale for bread, but I keep my grandma's metal measuring cups as a backup. That planned obsolescence hits different when you're covered in flour.

Check the mixer's brushes, they're cheap to replace and often fix speed problems.
