My stand mixer started smoking mid-crust yesterday
I was halfway through a double batch of pie dough for a holiday order and my KitchenAid started making this awful burning smell and smoke. Had to unplug it fast and finish the dough by hand with a pastry cutter which took forever. Anyone had luck getting these things repaired locally or should I just start saving for a new one?

Forty bucks and a week at the local small appliance shop got my old one running again. Used to think repairs were a scam but that was three years ago and its still going strong.

Honestly, that sounds way better than my track record with repairs. Tbh, I once tried to fix my toaster and ended up with a smoke alarm serenade and a burnt bagel. Ngl, a forty dollar fix that lasts three years is basically a miracle compared to my hit-or-miss DIY disasters.
