My grandma's sponge cake recipe still beats any new method I've tried.
Pulled out her handwritten card last Sunday after a decade of using modern techniques, and the texture was just perfect. Anyone else find themselves going back to old family recipes more often now?

Honestly used to think old recipes were just nostalgia bait but you might be onto something. Tried my aunt's meatloaf recipe last month after years of fancy internet versions and it was way better.

Is it really that serious though? I mean meatloaf is meatloaf at the end of the day. It's ground beef with ketchup on top. My grandma's recipe was just salt, pepper, some breadcrumbs and an egg. Tasted fine but not like life changing.

Doesn't that kind of apply to a lot of things though? I've noticed the same thing with simple stuff like a basic salad or even just scrambled eggs. Sometimes the old plain way just works better than all the fancy twists.
