My aunt told me to always add a pinch of salt to my sweet doughs

I mean, I thought it was silly since the recipe already had salt. But she was right, it really brings out the flavor in my cinnamon rolls. I started doing it about six months ago and my customers at the weekend market in Springfield noticed the difference right away. They said the rolls tasted 'more balanced' or something. Has anyone else found a tiny tweak like that that actually worked?

Actually, your recipe's salt is for the yeast. That extra pinch is just for your taste buds, right? It makes the sugar and spices pop without making things salty. I do the same thing with my morning coffee, just a tiny bit of salt cuts the bitterness.

Oh totally, I do that with my oatmeal too!

My grandma always put a pinch of salt in her coffee grounds. Makes sense what bettyfox said about cutting bitterness.
