Found my missing baking tool at a garage sale of all places

I lost my good bench scraper about 6 months ago and was using a dull knife for scoring and cutting dough. This past Saturday I stopped by a garage sale in my neighborhood and found a vintage metal bench scraper for 50 cents. The handle is worn smooth but the blade is still sharp and it works better than anything I could buy new. Has anyone else had luck finding old baking gear at thrift stores or sales?

Sounds like your knife finally got its retirement party whether it liked it or not. 50 cents for a tool that actually works is a steal compared to the overpriced junk at most kitchen stores. Must be nice to find something at a garage sale that isn't just someone's old exercise equipment.

Goodwill bins are gold for old baking gear. Snagged a solid rolling pin there once for a dollar. Vintage tools are built way tougher than anything you'd find at the store now.
