Appreciation post: My sourdough starter finally came back to life after a week in the fridge

I had to leave town for a family thing last week and stuck my starter, 'Bubbles', in the fridge. When I got back, it looked totally flat and sad. I fed it twice a day for three days straight, using warm water and my usual King Arthur bread flour. This morning, I opened the jar and it had finally doubled in size with those perfect little bubbles. Has anyone else had a starter seem dead but pull through like that?

Guess it just needed a vacation.

It's amazing how resilient a starter can be. Mine has looked dead a few times but always comes back with enough care. Glad Bubbles made it.

Yeah, they really do bounce back from looking totally dead, don't they? I've had the same scare with mine, @joelh64.
