My girlfriend and I fought over watching The Room again or a new trash movie, and I think I was wrong
Last Friday we had the place to ourselves and she wanted to rewatch The Room for the tenth time while I pushed for a random 1987 sci-fi mess called Space Rage that neither of us had seen. We went with my pick and it was so boring we turned it off 40 minutes in, which never happens with our bad movie nights. So my question is, do you rewatch the classics you already know are gold or do you keep rolling the dice on unknown garbage?
Oh man, the "so boring we turned it off 40 minutes in" part hit home for me. My husband and I do the same bad movie night thing and we had almost the exact same thing happen with some 80s movie about a killer robot that sounded amazing on paper. We made it maybe 30 minutes before we both just looked at each other and he said "this is bad bad, not fun bad." There's a real difference between bad movies that are funny and bad movies that are just nothing happening. Now we have a rule where if we're picking something new it has to be under 90 minutes so we don't waste the whole night. The known stuff like The Room always wins because you know the jokes are coming and half the fun is saying the lines with it. Rolling the dice is fun until you land on a total dud and the night just feels wasted.
