TIL those cheap plastic landscape staples are basically useless
I bought a big box of them for my new drip line, but after one good rain half of them popped out. Wasted about $25 and an afternoon redoing it all with proper metal ones. Anyone have a favorite brand for those?

nguyen.tara nailed it with that "suggestions" line because that's exactly what those plastic staples are. I feel your pain on that wasted afternoon. Same thing happened to me last spring. I spent hours laying down soaker hoses for my vegetable beds and used those cheap plastic pins to hold everything in place. First heavy rain came through and half the line was floating in puddles. I ended up switching to the Vigoro metal staples from Home Depot, they're like 4 inches long and actually stay put. The plastic ones should come with a warning label that says "only works if you never get rain or wind.

Honestly, I wonder if the plastic ones are meant more for temporary setups, like a single season. They just don't have the long-term grip.

Classic case of the "good enough" solution that never is. It's like the cheap tape that promises to hold anything but gives up on a Tuesday. Those plastic staples are basically just suggestions for where your drip line should go.
