That moment I flooded my whole backyard trying to install a drip system
I was in Fresno last summer setting up drip irrigation for my veggie beds and somehow cross-threaded the main valve adapter. Water shot out like a fire hose for 10 solid minutes before I found the shutoff (which was buried under three bags of mulch). Has anyone found a foolproof way to test connections without turning the water on full blast?

The trick is to hook up everything finger tight first then turn the water on just a crack at the spigot. Just enough so you hear a little trickle not a blast. Then go around and tighten each connection with a wrench while that low pressure water is on. That way you catch drips before they turn into geysers. Cross threading happens to everyone though, that's just a plumbing rite of passage I think.

My neighbor always swore by cranking everything down dry and then blasting the water to check, which is how I ended up soaked in my own driveway last spring. Reading this makes total sense though, you get to spot the little weepers before they turn into a full on spray and you're scrambling with a wrench. I'm definitely switching to your method next time I hook up the hoses in April.
