Rant: That cheap fence stain I bought at Home Depot peeled off in 2 weeks

I spent last Saturday staining my whole backyard fence in Phoenix, 90 degrees out, sweating like crazy. By the next weekend, big chunks of it were flaking off in the sun and I almost threw the can in the trash. Has anyone else had luck with a specific stain brand that actually holds up here?

I mean, @morgan.logan this is such a classic Phoenix thing. It's like the heat just beats the crap out of everything you try to do outdoors. I swear, half the stuff they sell at big box stores is made for somewhere with actual seasons, not a place where the sun tries to murder your fence panels. Feels like a constant losing battle, you know?
