Overheard a neighbor say his $300 raised bed was a rip off
My neighbor Bob told me he spent $300 on a cedar raised bed kit from the big box store and then complained the boards warped after one season. I built mine for under $80 using untreated pine and some corner brackets from the hardware store. Used a cheap deck sealer on it and it's been going strong for 3 summers now. Bob's kit had pre-drilled holes that didn't line up either. Am I missing something about those fancy kits, or do they just sell you on the convenience?

People treat raised beds like they're building a nuclear reactor or something. It's a WOODEN BOX filled with dirt. Bob probably paid for the fancy name and the promise that he wouldn't have to think about it. A warped board after one season just means it wasn't dried properly or sealed at all. Not every project needs to be a life changing investment, man. Some things are just simple and cheap.
