Neighbor's raised bed gave me a new view on my own garden

I was talking to my neighbor Bob yesterday while he was building a raised bed out of old railroad ties. He said something about how he never waters after 6PM because it invites slugs and rot, which I always thought was fine to do. It got me thinking about all the little habits I have in my backyard that I just do because that's how I learned it, not because it's right. Bob's 65 and has had the same tomato patch for 20 years, so I guess he knows a thing or two. I went home and looked at my own garden setup and realized I've been overwatering my zucchini for the last month. Now I'm wondering what other small adjustments might make a bigger difference than I think. Has anyone else had a random conversation that totally changed how they do something simple in your yard?

Gotta stop watering my lettuce at night now. Never thought about it.

Oh man @morgan.logan, you and me both! I learned the hard way when my lettuce turned into a slimy mess and I thought I just had bad luck with plants. Turns out I was basically giving them a nighttime spa treatment for slugs lol.
