My raised bed garden turned into a squirrel buffet overnight
I spent $80 on lumber and soil for a fancy raised bed last month in my backyard in Austin. Next morning I found 6 holes dug through the bottom and half my seeds scattered. Now I line every bed with hardware cloth before filling it. Anyone else fighting a losing battle with these little diggers?

Man, hardware cloth is the way to go for sure. Did yours have a wooden bottom or did you just set it straight on the dirt?

Hardware cloth is the only thing that's kept the raccoons out of mine honestly. I just set mine right on the dirt with a good overlap around the edges to stop anything digging underneath. Keeps the airflow going and the girls seem to like scratching around on it.
