Oh man, that's a good point but I bet nobody's thinking about the weather side of it. Around here, if you don't let the boards dry out before you screw 'em down, they'll warp no matter what fastener you use.

I mean, letting boards dry out before screwing them down? Around here we're lucky if the wood sits in the driveway for a full afternoon before we're like 'good enough.' Pat's probably right though, because one rainstorm and half my deck looks like it's trying to do the wave at a baseball game. Bob's probably the type who levels his lawn with a laser and calls code enforcement if your fence is 1/8 inch off. Anyway, my deck's definitely got some cupping action going on now and I'm just gonna pretend it's rustic charm.
