I was leveling my patio stones wrong for 2 summers straight

I always just eyeballed it with a 4-foot level and thought close enough was fine... then a neighbor came over and showed me how bad my runoff angle was after a rainstorm. Water was pooling right against my foundation the whole time and I never noticed. Did anyone else have that moment where you realize your basic method was completely backwards?

Man I relate to this so hard, I spent a whole summer building a deck and only realized my posts were like 2 inches off level when I tried to put the railing on and nothing lined up. My dad came by, took one look, and just shook his head while I wanted to crawl under the deck forever lol.

Oh MAN that's brutal. Did you at least try to cheat it with some shims before your dad showed up?
