Hot take: I built two raised beds with different liners and one is already failing
I put in two 4x8 beds last spring, one lined with standard weed fabric from the big box store and the other with a heavy-duty woven polypropylene liner my neighbor gave me. After one winter in Michigan, the cheap fabric is tearing and weeds are pushing through, but the polypropylene one looks brand new. The difference in material thickness and weave is huge. What's a good liner you've used that lasts more than a single season?

Did you staple or just lay down the cheap fabric? A loose fit lets it move and tear more easily.

What about the stuff you put under the fabric? I've seen guys skip the pad or use the wrong type, then the fabric gets chewed up no matter how tight you staple it. That thin foam from the big box store turns to dust under heavy chairs, and the loose fabric just grinds against the floor.

Check the density rating on that foam, not just the thickness.
