Hit 100 square feet of paver patio and realized my slope was off
I was so focused on getting the pattern right I ignored the grade. Water pooled right against the house after a storm. 100 square feet is a lot to tear up and redo. Check your slope every 10 feet. Anyone else mess this up on their first big project?

@kim693 nailed it with the gut punch feeling. My approach now is to lay a couple rows, then run a string line with a level every 10 feet. Water pooling taught me that lesson the hard way too on my first attempt. Had to pull up about 80 square feet of pavers and redo the base. After that, I started using a 4-foot level and checking slope constantly, even if it slows things down. A little extra sand or stone dust now beats tearing out the whole thing later.

Man that sucks, sorry. I've been there with concrete work before and it's a gut punch when you realize you gotta rip it all out. At least you caught it before the whole thing was done.
