Warning: The official map for the Lost Coast Trail is wrong about the high tide zone

Got caught by a rising tide near Punta Gorda because the map said the impassable section was 2 miles shorter than it actually is. We ended up having to scramble up a sketchy cliff face for an hour to get around it. Anyone know a better source for accurate tide charts on that stretch?

Actually heard they fixed that map last year, the new ones have the right zone marked. Did you get one of the old copies maybe?

Check the ranger station in Shelter Cove next time. They have a laminated tide chart they update by hand when the official ones are off. Saved my group last fall.

Wait, so the ranger station chart is actually different from the printed ones they give out? How often do they have to update it, is it like every season or something? That's a huge deal if the official info is that far off regularly.
