TIL the hard way about water crossings on the JMT
I was crossing a creek near Muir Trail Ranch last August when a loose rock flipped me into waist deep water. Soaked my whole pack including my down sleeping bag before I could even think about a dry bag. Anyone else switch to synthetic fill after something like this?

Ugh I feel this SO much. I had the exact same thing happen at Evolution Creek and my down bag was a total disaster for the rest of the trip.

oh man that sucks so bad. i had something similar happen but with my tent - rolled off a log into a puddle near wright lake and my whole vestibule area flooded. i was so mad because i literally thought i was being careful stepping on everything. the worst part was my sleeping pad was soaked too and i had to sleep on a rock that night. never bothered with synthetic though, i just got really big dry bags for my down stuff now. but honestly i feel your pain on the wet pack thing, its so miserable.
