Rant: My camp stove quit on a remote trail
Had to eat cold oatmeal for breakfast and lunch. Really messed up my energy for the climb.

Camp stoves dying at the worst time is a classic. Cold oatmeal for two meals sounds like a special kind of trail punishment.

Cold oatmeal for breakfast AND lunch? That's brutal. I can't even imagine eating that stuff cold once, let alone twice in a row. It must have been like chewing on paste, no wonder your energy tanked. Stuff like that can really ruin a hike, especially when you're counting on hot food to keep going. Honestly, my respect for you pushing through that.

Used to think cold oatmeal was the worst thing you could eat on trail until I tried it with peanut butter mixed in. Actually sticks to your ribs and doesn't taste like glue, so I get why you powered through. Might even do it on purpose next time if my stove acts up again.
