Overheard two guys at a diner arguing about the PCT vs the AT

One was saying the AT has more community and the other insisted the PCT is a purer experience. What route do you think has better trail culture for a solo hiker?

Ha, I love that these guys are arguing about this like it's a political debate. I'm a solo hiker too and honestly my experience was basically just me tripping over roots on the AT while trying to find the next privy. I'd say the AT has more community if your definition includes having to listen to someone's entire life story while you're both trying to poop in the woods. PCT folks seem more chill but then you gotta deal with miles of nothing and your own brain which is honestly terrifying for me.

Your own brain is terrifying" - yeah that's real. I read this blog once where a PCT thru-hiker said day 17 is when the voices start getting really creative. Like telling you the rocks are actually giant potatoes.
