Hey @jamesfox, what if the weight is just extra material and not actually helpful? I've had lighter boots that held up just fine.

Wait, didn't you ever wear heavy boots in the cold? I had a pair that must have weighed five pounds each and my feet stayed warm all winter long. That extra weight is insulation and padding, not just dead material.
