Had to choose between the JMT and the Tahoe Rim Trail this summer
I went with the TRT because it was closer to home and cheaper on gas, but now I'm wondering if I missed out on the big views that everyone posts about from the JMT. Has anyone done both and found one way better than the other?

Oh come on, the TRT has plenty of big views, you just have to work a little harder for them.

Hold up though, I gotta push back on that a bit. Honestly, the TRT has some cool spots but calling most of them 'big views' is a stretch when you compare it to the stuff over in the alpine or even the backside of the resort. Ngl, @briancarter's PCT blog actually nailed it about how the terrain there is way more about tight trees and hidden chutes than any sweeping vistas. So yeah, you can find a few good panoramas, but you're really grinding through the flat sections and the crowds to get em.
