Got completely disoriented in a fog on the Highline Trail in Glacier
I was maybe 3 miles past the Granite Park Chalet when the fog rolled in so thick I couldn't see 10 feet. Ended up relying on my compass and pacing out steps to stay on the ridge, took me an extra hour to reach the saddle. Anyone else ever have to navigate by feel in a whiteout?

Used to think a compass was old school. Not anymore.

Right, "not anymore" because your phone died in the middle of nowhere and you realized a compass actually works without a signal. Guess that's what happens when you trust a battery to keep you alive in the woods. We all laugh until we're the one spinning in circles trying to read moss on a tree.

Wait, are you sure you were still on the Highline Trail with fog that thick? The trail drops into a big basin past the chalet, so you might've been off the actual ridge if you were pacing toward a saddle.
