Finished plotting my custom route through the Sawtooths
Marking all the water sources and potential campsites (on real paper, even) gives me such a sense of accomplishment.

Last year in the Tetons, I spent a whole evening tracing routes on a trail map. I mean, there's something about pencil on paper that feels more real than any app. Idk, maybe it's just me but that hands-on planning is half the fun.

When @derek875 mentioned pencil on paper, I started marking paper maps then taking phone photos for the trail.

Wow, you actually used real paper? That's wild! Everyone I know just uses apps on their phones now. Like, my friend planned a whole coast-to-coast hike on his tablet last month. Paper maps seem so old-school, but I guess that's part of the charm. The idea of spreading out a big map and marking it up sounds pretty satisfying, though. Still, it's hard to believe people still do that!
