Beware the bolted cables on the North Umpqua Trail right now

I hiked the section near Susan Creek last Saturday and found two of the steel cable handrails completely snapped at the anchor bolts, looks like a tree came down over winter. The trail crews haven't posted any closures, so if you're planning that stretch, definitely bring trekking poles and scout each crossing before you trust the cable. Has anyone else run into this kind of trail damage that wasn't flagged anywhere?

...and of course I decided that was the perfect day to wear my slick-soled approach shoes instead of actual boots. So there I am, halfway across, gripping that busted cable like it's a winning lottery ticket while my feet are doing their best ice skate impression on wet rock. Thanks for the heads up, I was literally planning that same stretch this weekend and probably would've ended up as a cautionary tale on the trail forum. Now I get to buy trekking poles and pretend my balance is the problem, not my stubbornness.
