That $200 "aviation grade" crimper kit I bought off Amazon is actually garbage
Spent $200 on a fancy crimper kit that claimed to be "aviation grade" - biggest waste of money in months. First time I used it on a D-sub pin, the ratchet mechanism jammed halfway through and I had to pry it apart with a screwdriver. Ended up borrowing my buddy's old Daniels crimper from the 90s and it worked perfect every time (he got it for like $30 at a flea market). Has anyone else had bad luck with those cheap online tool bundles that promise the world?

Well Daniels is the only actual aviation grade brand, that Amazon kit was never close.

Bought a $150 "professional grade" soldering station that claimed to be used by NASA technicians. The iron tip oxidized after three uses and the temperature dial was off by like 80 degrees. My dad still uses his Weller from 1985 that he found at a garage sale for five bucks. The Amazon reviews were all obviously fake too, five stars with photos of it still in the box. Lesson learned, stick with the old beat up stuff that's been proven for decades.
