Pro tip: An old pilot at the FBO told me to always check the cannon plug seals before chasing a gremlin.
He said 'most intermittent faults are just moisture getting in', and after finding a cracked seal on a King Air's transponder, I get it now. Anyone else have a simple check that saves hours?

Our shop has a checklist that starts with checking all the grounds first. It's saved us a ton of time.

My buddy spent two days chasing a weird voltage drop on a truck. Turned out to be a bad ground strap behind the cab, something @betty_butler73's checklist would have caught. He was testing sensors and checking the alternator over and over. That single bad ground made everything else look broken. He felt pretty silly after finding it.

Ground issues are the worst, they trick you into fixing everything but the actual problem. It's like when one bad wire makes the whole house flicker, you start changing bulbs before checking the breaker.
