Just had to pick between the Fluke 87V and the 289 for a big avionics bench setup. Went with the 87V and it's been perfect for the daily stuff.

I read a review from an avionics tech in Wichita who said the same thing. He kept the 289 for logging data but used an 87V for 90% of his bench work. That extra screen just gets in the way when you need a quick reading.

Nice! The 87V is such a solid choice, it just works and you never have to fight with it. I used a 289 for a bit and all those extra menus drove me nuts for basic troubleshooting lol. For a bench where you're grabbing it all day, the simpler the better. You definitely picked the right tool for the job.

Awesome, the 87V is a total workhorse that just gets out of your way.
