I finally fixed that ghost squawk on a King Air 200 after 6 months
Old timer named Rick at the hangar in Boise told me to check the coaxial cable ends on the transponder antenna instead of swapping boxes, and sure enough one had a loose center pin that was making intermittent contact - has anyone else had a weird issue traced back to a simple connector problem?

Had you already swapped the transponder itself before Rick gave you the tip? Loose coax pins are a classic ghost in the machine, especially on those older King Airs where vibration works things loose over time. I've seen the same thing on a Baron 58 once, drove us crazy till we finally broke down and checked every connector.

Actually the 58 is a Beechcraft Baron, not a King Air. Different airframe, but yeah loose coax pins are the devil on any twin.
