Honestly, I used to think all crimpers were basically the same until I had to redo a whole harness on a Citation last week.

Oh man, tell me about it. I swear I used half a spool of heat shrink just trying to cover up my messy crimps last time. It's all about that wire prep, getting the strands perfect before you even touch the connector.

Been there with the bird's nest look. What finally clicked for me was twisting the strands tight with my fingers before I even put them in the crimp barrel. A little twist makes them act like one solid piece of wire instead of a bunch of loose hairs. My crimps got way cleaner once I started doing that every single time.
