Can we talk about that wiring harness trick I thought was total garbage?
Back when I was coming up at a small shop near Bakersfield, an old timer kept telling me to add service loops to every harness I built. I thought he was just making more work for me because I was young and wanted to get jobs done fast. We had a King Air come in around 2019 with a cracked cannon plug from vibration, and he laughed and said, see, told you. I started adding about 6 inches of extra wire bundled with lacing tape, and sure enough, the next two planes I worked on had connectors fail right where a tight run had no slack. Now I do it on every install, even when the book doesn't call for it. It's not about being fancy, it's about giving yourself room to re-pin without pulling the whole run. Has anyone else had a senior tech call them out on something like that and it stuck with you?
