Found a carrier on a Tuesday, booked it Thursday for $180 less than the first quote
Got a car moving from Phoenix to Denver last month and the first two brokers hit me with $1,050 and $1,150. Almost paid it too. Then I tried something dumb. I called back on a Tuesday morning instead of a weekend and asked if they had any trucks already running that route that week. Turns out they did. Some guy was deadheading back from a Phoenix delivery with an empty slot on his trailer. Got it locked in at $870, picked up Thursday, dropped Saturday. The guy even texted me a photo when it was loaded. The whole thing came down to timing and asking about trucks already headed that way instead of just taking the first number. Anyone else had luck calling midweek vs weekends, or was this just a fluke?
