Figured out I was way overpaying for shipping quotes, and the fix was almost embarrassing
Been shipping cars from auctions to my lot in Tulsa for about two years, and I always just called the first broker who picked up because I figured the prices were all within $50 of each other. Last Tuesday I had three quotes sitting in my inbox for the same F-150 from Dallas and the spread was $340, which is when it hit me that I was basically throwing money away by not shopping around even a little. I started pasting the route into a couple of those instant quote sites and calling the cheapest one to verify, and it turned out the guy I had been using was on the high end the entire time. First load with the new broker ran $275 less and picked up a day sooner. Anyone else got a broker they actually trust for regular runs, or do you switch every time to keep them honest?
