A dispatcher in Phoenix told me to quit booking enclosed transport for every classic car, and she was right
I used to put every classic car I shipped into an enclosed trailer, no matter what it was, because I figured more protection equals happier customer. Last month a dispatcher in Phoenix asked me one simple thing: is the car actually worth more than the extra $700 to $1,000 enclosed runs? I ran the numbers on my last 10 open shipments and zero of them had any damage claims, even the 68 Chevelle that came from Tucson. So now I only push enclosed for real show cars or anything with fresh paint, and I ask the customer straight up what the car means to them first. Has anyone else switched off enclosed for most rides, or am I asking for trouble down the road?
